Watch service with care
Hundreds of tiny components work to keep your mechanical timepiece ticking. Just like your car, taking care of your precious, valuable watch makes financial sense.
Opening your watchcase, whether for servicing or waterproofing, should only be carried out by a highly qualified watchmaker with the necessary testing equipment. At David M Robinson, our dedicated team of Rolex-trained watchmakers have years of experience in the sophisticated process of watch servicing.
As well as full repair services, we offer battery replacement, maintenance servicing, timekeeping testing, waterproofing and resealing.

Waterproofing watch service
The various openings and joints of your timepiece must be sealed in order to keep your watch working after contact with water. Naturally, the seals themselves can degrade over time. We recommend these are checked annually (especially if the watch is used for serious water-based activities like scuba diving). Our team at David M Robinson is highly skilled in the art of keeping a watch protected from water.
To find out if your watch seals need protecting, make an enquiry using the form above. You can also phone or pop into one of our four UK showrooms, where our expert advisors can tell you more.
Looking after your watch
While most modern watches can withstand some level of exposure to water, those made before 1970 do not have the waterproofing technology that modern timepieces do. Of course, we recommend these watches are kept away from moist environments.
Virtually all modern watches can withstand a normal level of water exposure such as hand washing, while diver’s watches rated at 300m (1,000ft) can easily cope with a swim in the sea. When your timepiece does come into contact with salt water, because even high-grade stainless steel will oxidise with direct contact with salt, it should be rinsed off as soon as possible with fresh water.
Trusted watch servicing
Whichever precious timepiece you own, it will have its own unique needs. The team at DMR are perfectly placed to advise you and service it correctly.
FAQs

Our Rolex-trained watchmakers provide a full maintenance service, timekeeping tests, resealing, waterproofing, battery replacements and strap changes.
Which brands do you offer watch servicing for?
At this time, we can only offer watch servicing and repairs on pieces from our partner brands. Whether you have a Rolex, TUDOR, OMEGA, IWC Schaffhausen, TAG Heuer or Patek Philippe watch, our team offers comprehensive after sales care.
How do I know if my watch needs servicing?
Make an enquiry now to find out if your watch needs servicing. You can book an appointment at one of our DMR showrooms or mono-brand watch boutiques, where our expert ambassadors can tell you more.
How often does a watch need to be serviced?
Generally, we suggest that new watches be serviced at least every five to seven years. Similarly, if you have a watch you purchased more than a decade ago, it should also be serviced every five years at minimum to keep it running smoothly. Please note, this can vary between brands.
