As Liverpool reverberated to the sounds of The Beatles, an iconic journey was beginning around the corner in a small workshop. Over 50 years on, the story continues with five showrooms across the UK, in Manchester, Altrincham, Canary Wharf, The Peninsula London and our spiritual home of Liverpool.
1962
David Robinson became an apprentice goldsmith
1969
Mr Robinson founded his eponymous company
With a natural aptitude for craftwork, David Robinson became an apprentice goldsmith for a jewellery repair business on Liverpool’s Hanover Street.
He went to night school to achieve his qualifications, and, shortly afterwards, passed his trade examinations to become a Fellow of the British Gemmological Association.
Mr Robinson founded his eponymous company in 1969, starting with a small shop on North John Street in Liverpool.
David Robinson is presented with the second of his De Beers Diamond International Awards at the Plaza Hotel, New York City, 1969.
1972
David M Robinson acquire Liverpool’s original Music Lending Library
1980
Her Majesty The Queen presented a piece of jewellery designed by David
In 1972, Liverpool’s original Music Lending Library, which sat in the heart of the city, was acquired by David M Robinson. It became the brand’s much-loved Liverpool showroom, fondly nicknamed the Church Alley showroom in homage to the street it sat on. The insert shows the same building in all it’s DMR glory, after it was acquired and refurbished.
In 1980, Her Majesty The Queen presented a piece of jewellery designed by David, to winning trainer Major W.R. Hern at Royal Ascot’s King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes.

2006
David M Robinson expands from its roots
Our exclusive Cloud Nine collection was launched, designed in-house by David Robinson. The collection has since earned its reputation as a modern classic.
In 2006, David M Robinson expands from its roots in the North West, opening a showroom in Canary Wharf, at the heart of London's financial hub, becoming an exclusive agent for Patek Philippe.
2009
DMR's iconic Lunar collection is launched
2011

DMR's iconic Lunar collection is launched, exclusively to the brand's UK showrooms. The suite remains a popular choice with friends of DMR.

2019
our newly renovated showroom in St. Ann’s Square, Manchester opens
2022
our flagship showroom opens at Liverpool ONE.
DMR opened the doors to our newly renovated showroom in St. Ann’s Square, Manchester as we celebrated our 50th anniversary.
2022 saw the reopening of our flagship showroom at Liverpool ONE. The first of our new concept showrooms features multiple in-store spaces for client hospitality, including a dedicated Rolex area, private dining room and a champagne bar, as well as on site workshops for our Master Watchmaker and Goldsmiths.

our boutique within The Peninsula London opens

we redefine the luxury jewellery experience with our Altrincham showroom
A first for DMR, 2023 saw the opening of our boutique within The Peninsula London. Superbly situated alongside Hyde Park Corner and Wellington Arch, the showroom offers a selection of exquisite pieces from the DMR collection.
In 2024, we opened our new-look new showroom in the heart of Altrincham, Greater Manchester, which redefines the luxury jewellery experience, offering bespoke jewellery services, as well as engagement rings and bridal jewellery in a luxury high-street setting. The in-store workshop allows our master goldsmiths to showcase rare and traditional skills of hand forging engagement and wedding rings, alongside the latest techniques in beautiful micro stone setting.
